Mac joined on 26 March 2000 and left on 26 May 2006.
Mac set up Riverside Practice with his second wife, Kate.
He had three children from his first marriage to Julia (Patrick, Liam and Samantha). But after he had an affair, they divorced.听He married Kate and they had a child, Ciaran. Mac reacted badly to his birth and became an alcoholic.
After Kate's affair with a priest, Mac suffered a heart attack. Julia came back into his life and they remarried.听She reconciled him with his son, Liam, who he'd disowned for raping Faith.
The couple temporarily separated after Julia's old flame, Harry, came to Letherbridge. But Julia soon realised that Harry wasn't who she thought he was and she returned to Mac.
Whilst visiting Ciaran in Ireland, Mac started an affair with Kate. Julia was furious when she found out and demanded that he leave. Mac followed her wishes and started a new life with Kate and Ciaran in Ireland.听
