    Beethoven鈥檚 mighty 鈥楥horal鈥� Symphony, with its famous 鈥極de to Joy鈥� finale, is performed by the 主播大秀 Scottish Symphony Orchestra and new Chief Conductor Ryan Wigglesworth in the first of their two Proms together this season (see Prom 43). The symphony鈥檚 monumental, revolutionary musical statement 鈥� seizing hope and happiness from doubt and struggle 鈥� is picked up in Helen Grime鈥檚 Proms commission Meditations on Joy, whose three movements are each inspired by a different poem and facet of joy.
