About This Event

The Aurora Orchestra’s Proms visits are always a highlight of the season – less a concert than a musical event. This year Nicholas Collon and the orchestra tackle their boldest challenge yet – performing Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony from memory.

This concert presentation sees Radio 3 broadcaster Tom Service and conductor Nicholas Collon unpack this carefully constructed work, with its fleet-footed melodies and dance-filled rhythms, before the musicians put it back together again in a complete performance.

This is a rare opportunity to experience a great symphony – one that Leonard Bernstein featured in one of his famous Young People’s Concerts – from the inside out.

There will be no interval
