Genre defying Welsh wonders

Deaf Club head to Reading & Leeds off the back of a busy 2012. They’ve played The Great Escape and Dot to Dot alongside a run of shows in May and a packed launch party at London’s Old Blue Last for their single Moving Still. The Welsh fivepiece (who are based in London) are a magnet for praise with The Guardian, Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio 1 and 6Music all falling hard for their dramatic, lingering range of tunes.

Fronted by Polly Mackey’s exquisite vocals, Deaf Club can’t be classified easily. Shoegazing seems the most popular description of their bold alternative rock but the gothic edge is a key ingredient. Either way, the good news is that the band aren’t showing any sign of pulling on the handbrake with more material expected later in the year and in 2013 too. Brilliant!
