The Larry Sanders Show (2000)

For those of you who only ever caught the odd episode of the poorly scheduled but often brilliantly funny "Larry Sanders Show", you'll be delighted with this DVD release. You get six of the best episodes plus a bonus episode and a trailer, all conveniently on one disc. The picture quality is nothing special but it doesn't look any worse than the normal broadcast quality and improves with the more recent episodes.

A whole host of stars grace Larry's fictional talk show, as you'll see below:

  • (109) 'Guest Host' (with Dana Carvey). Dana Carvey ("Wayne's World") appears as Sanders' replacement for a week and unexpectedly is a big hit, causing no end of worry for Sanders. Watch out for some particularly acidic sniping.
  • (113) 'The Talk Show' (with Billy Crystal) Larry's domestic problems destroy his concentration with hilarious consequences.
  • (203) 'The List' (with Alec and Daniel Baldwin) Anyone who remembers Alec Baldwin from his "Knot's Landing" days will love his close imitation of the character he played then.
  • (302) 'Montana' (with Robin Williams) Larry's retired and gone to live in Montana only to realise that he's made the biggest mistake of his life.
  • (403) 'Hank's Sex Tape' (with Henry Winkler) Of all the episodes, this is the funniest. Hank's secret sex tape is discovered and gets into circulation just as he signs up a deal to do a family promotion for orange juice.
  • (408) 'Larry's Big Idea' (with Courtney Cox)
  • (412)'I was a Teenage Lesbian' (with Brett Butler)
