The Twillight Zone - vol.5 (2000)

Once again we enter the futuristic "Twilight Zone" on DVD with this latest release of another four classic episodes. As with the previous four volumes, the features and disc layout is the same. Fans of the old Irwin Allen TV shows will be fascinated to see a whole host of those stars popping up in the following episodes.

  • "Long Distance Call" (Episode 58 - March 31, 1961) Billy Mumy ("Lost in Space") stars as a young boy who communicates with his dead Grandma via a toy phone she gave him. Unlike the other episodes on this disc, it's recorded on videotape so has quite a different feel to it.
  • "I sing the Body Electric" (Episode 100 - May 18, 1962) Veronica Cartwright ("Lost in Space") stars as a young girl who's raised by a cyborg in the shape of an old granny after various childminders don't make the grade. Veronica's father is a little concerned when his daughter runs off but cyber-gran chillingly reassures him "There's no place for her to go but to me".
  • "The Lonely" (Episode 7 - November 13, 1959) Jack Warden stars as a convicted murderer "dying of loneliness" after being sent to live on a barren asteroid for 50 years in this highly atmospheric episode. Imagine his delight when he's sent a crate with an automated woman to keep him company - in the 'Twilight Zone'.
  • "Probe 7 - Over and Out" (Episode 129 - November 29, 1963) Richard Basehart ("Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea") stars as a man who's crash landed on a planet where he finds a sole woman for company. Directed by Ted Post ("Beneath the Planet of the Apes") this episode has a lovely twist to it that is completely ruined if you read the DVD cover - you have been warned!
