Kids DVD (1995)

Shocking is a somewhat feeble word to describe Larry Clark's controversial "Kids". If you're disillusioned by the usual saccharine-ridden teen dramas from the US, then you'll find this a strong antidote that's worth getting on DVD.

The film covers 24 hours with a group of New York teenagers. We spend time with the boys and the girls as they get down to the basics of carnal lust and more. It's all shot in a rough and edgy style that creates a grainy image that looks good on DVD.

The sound comes in a 2.0 mix that has little to do other than communicate the brutally frank dialogue. There's often music playing in the background and it separates out to the rear speakers to add a little atmosphere.

The only added extra is the original trailer. It's not a lot, but the film transfer is good and you're probably best just having a little lie down after encountering this movie.
