听 "Malice" is a polished Hollywood thriller with good pacing and plenty of slick plot devices. It's just as well, otherwise the sloppiness of this DVD release would become even more obvious.
Made in 1993, there's no reason why this shouldn't be an anamorphic release, (a process which carries extra coding to create a more detailed picture on a widescreen TV). Some DVDs manage fine without it, but this transfer needs all the help it can get. The blacks are a dull grey and the colours look washed out.
The sound comes in a very flat stereo mix that makes little use of the Jerry Goldsmith score, and occasionally distorts.
The DVD cover sums up the lousy effort made with this disc. The music is apparently by 'Gerry Goldsmith' (Jerry Goldsmith), the film was produced by a 'Rachel Phfeffer' (Rachel Pfeffer), and written by 'Jcott Frank' (Scott Frank). Buy this, and you'll only encourage Universal to think that they can get away with more of the same rubbish.
