In the Realm of the Senses DVD (1976)

With scenes featuring the use of nunchakus now passed, the are now allowing truncheons of other types to be shown on an 18 certificate. If the somewhat mild Tinto Brass films shock you, you'll no doubt be shaken to the core with this arthouse movie that was banned at its 1976 New York Film Festival premiere. This tale of sexual obsession spirals into a world of perversion and sado-masochism that's now passed uncut onto a quality DVD.

The dramatic plotline may attract a few, but it's more likely to be the scenes of full penetration that will have most reaching for this arthouse DVD. Good news awaits those customers, with a clear picture ensuring that no detail is lost. There is occasional, slight print damage, but it's not likely to prove a distraction

The sound mix is in moan-o, sorry mono, and does the job with no distortion.

Included on the DVD is a small photo gallery and director's filmography.
