听 Deep-pan substance this isn't, but this romantic comedy drama about three pizza waitresses is a thin but crispy delight. Star of the show is the young but unmistakable Julia Roberts, and fans will likely consider this good DVD an essential investment.
Just as with "Mermaids" (reviewed on DVD), "Mystic Pizza" was filmed in New England and both discs (from MGM) boast a superb picture quality of rich and warm tones.
The 2.0 sound mix is uneventful effects wise, but it handles the music score well, making good use of the front speakers.
A trailer is the only extra feature on offer, but fans should be happy with the transfer quality. Still, any number of silly extras could conceivably have been included like a pizza counter for each one consumed in the movie, or a Julia Roberts smile-o-meter. Sadly, we can only imagine the fun we could have had with treats like that...
