Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (Why Did I Fall In Love?) (2005)
PGContains mild language, sex references and comic violence

When it comes to Bollywood comedies director David Dhawan is king. But judging by his latest farce, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, the emperor's crown could be slipping. Salman Khan plays Samir Malhotra, a dashing doctor who pretends he's married in order to keep relationships from getting too serious. However, when he falls in love with girlfriend Sonia (Katrina Kaif), she insists on meeting his non-existent spouse before tying the knot. High on energy but low on quality gags, this caper is more over-the-top than original.

More used to breaking hearts than mending bones, Khan's orthopaedic surgeon enlists the help of his besotted nurse Naina (Sushmita Sen) when his strategy backfires. But soon the love triangle turns into a square when Sonia's nosey neighbour Pyaare (Sohail Khan) encourages her to discover the truth. Two hours of silly slapstick, singing and dancing later, it's left to an exhausted audience to figure out why they should even care about who ends up with whom.

"EVEN KAHN ISN'T CONVINCED BY THE STORYLINE"

Throwing logic out of the window, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya requires you to believe that two grown-up, intelligent women would be blind to the antics of a self-confessed Casanova like Samir. Even Khan, who has played this kind of role many times before, doesn't seem entirely convinced by the far-fetched storyline. The only castmember who does is fellow actor/producer/brother Sohail Khan, who despite a peppy performance, fails to save the day. The end result is a light-hearted caper that is neither as clever or hilarious as it promises to be.
