Exploring the psyche of a killer is something Bollywood has steered clear of, but debutante director Jijy Phillip attempts to think outside the box with the story of My Wife's Murder. Anil Kapoor plays Ravi Patwardhan, a film editor who accidentally murders his nagging wife and decides to hide the crime. However, getting rid of the body is only the beginning of the fun and games. Unsophisticated but unpretentious, this tense thriller will leave you satisfied with the conclusion.

Ravi (Kappoor) has already had enough of his suspicious wife (Suchitra Krishnamoorhty) and her accussations that he's having an affair with his young assistant Reena (Nandana Sen), long before an ugly spat ends in her unintended death. Making the split decision to hide the incident from his children, Ravi finds it difficult pulling the wool over the police's eyes, especially when eccentric Inspector Tejpal (Boman Irani) comes snooping. Soon one white lie leads to another, leaving both Ravi and the audience wondering if he will get away with murder.

"SPEEDY DIRECTION AND TIGHT SCRIPT"

For any thriller to leave an impression, it should compel the viewer to stay on the edge of their seat till the end, and My Wife's Murder manages this successfully. Getting to the crux of the matter within the opening 15 minutes, Phillip's speedy direction and Atul Sabharwal's tight script ensures there's no time to dwindle with extraneous plots or song and dance interruptions. This allows Kapoor plenty of time and scope to get under the skin of this character, cleverly instilling empathy for the protagonist and delivering one of his finest performances in years.
