Not that I have ever answered a call or read a text whilst driving, I have decided that I shall no longer have my mobile phone on whilst in any car on my own. That way I shall not either be distracted by it ringing or wondering who the text is from. I shall not be thinking about who was making the call and be more able to consentrate on my driving and adhering to th e speed limit.

I sympathise with David Eade about the tailgating, although it can be the same for car drivers like me. I would like to suggest that your scheme produce a window sticker informing drivers following that you are trying to observe the speed limit although being intimidated from behind when doing so.

In my experience, councils can set speed limits to whatever and wherever they like, but most pepole will take no notice of them. "Most people" like to drive at a speed that seems comforatble to them - around 45 mph, whetever the speed limit. There is an indicator board that tells drivers their speed abvout 150 yards inside the 30pmh speed restriction signs at Lower Broadheath, that I pass on my way to work every day. Most people, even school bus drivers, exceed 30mph and this morning the car in front of me was doing 42, and not slowing down.What is needed is a change of attitude - has anyone any ideas on how that outcome can be achieved??

Tuesday's programme and on today's the "traffic and travel" contained reports of accidents at junctions where there is an island. Tuesday's accident was the junction of Evesham Road, Windmill Drive and the Slough in Redditch and today was the junction of the Bromsgrove - Kidderminster and Worcester Road at Mustow Green. I believe many drivers do not approach traffic islands correctly. This is in part due to the lack of consistency in the requirements and possibly poor road reading skills. To illustrate this point some motorists at the Windmill Drive junction take the right hand lane when taking the third (of four) exits, some others take the middle lane for the third exit, these 2 meet as they try to enter the Slough hence frequent horns, braking and near misses! The right hand lane is marked on the road with a arrow - turn right - for the forth exit.Another example is the A46 from Warwick to Stratford by pass where it crosses the Birmingham Road. Here you are instructed by arrows on the road surface to take the right hand lane when taking the third (of four) exits. The road markings are often worn out and therefore difficult to see and a little late for someone to respond to if they are new to the junction. It appears there is no convention when approaching some traffic islands. I believe that your programme could make a significant contribution to road safety by raising the question of how to approach and turn at an island. Perhaps you could invite someone from RoSPA or the Highways Agency to explain the "rules" and road markings and the meaning of types of line used. Keep up the good work!

Just got off my bike having traveled to work - I was tailgated twice by cars when we were doing 60mph. I slow down to reduce the risk and they just get closer to my back wheel! Then overtake in a dangerous place!There aren't any motorways in Herefordshire so why does everyone think they can drive at motorway speeds?More to the point, if they can't drive safely of their own volition, why isn't there any enforcement of the laws that have been laid down to protect other road users??

Having tried the driver simulator I will definately keep my spped down in future - it is really illiminating and frightening seeing the time it take to stop at more than 20 miles an hour.

I travel from Bromyard to Worcester every day and the stupid risks that people take are horrendous,but it's never them that gets hurt!always the innocent ones. I agree with speed limits but make them well signposted and also a constant one.

Whilst I agree with the campaign I think that we should have consistant speed limits. Take for instance the A449 why do we have 40mph then 50mph then 60mph - why not ONE limit for the whole of the stretch of the road

This is fantastic. About time we had something like this and only with the support of a well known body/organsiation will it work. Far too often I am passed by people who feel that 30mph is for someone else. I have to say though that a majority of the people that drive avove the speed limit are old enough to have children of their own. So, its not the youngsters that need educating, its everyone. Some speed awareness courses for offenders would help to spread the word.

great campaign, its long over due that people started driving responsibly. great simulator on yr website, we can all practice our reactions. WE ALL ARE BUSY but we should arrange our lives so we don't have to answer the mobile while driving. I am horrified by the number of accidents on the M5 and A49 leominster. PARENTS should teach their kids to have responsible personalities. there should be parenting courses. Kids should be disciplined so that in yrs to come would make them responsible drivers.
