As the black magazine programme for Merseyside, Upfront has quite a lot to cover! In the 1st half hour, you'll hear vintage soul music hits and the Stinger competition. This is a chance to win a CD featuring soul hits from the 60's, 70's and early 80's: you have to try and guess who the soul artist is by identifying a piece of music which is played backwards!

Listeners are invited to come onto the Upfront programme live via phone-in, to test their wits/knowledge of soul & R&B. 'Alex the Great' is another feature of the first half hour which brings you up to date with the latest news and views around the world.

The 2nd Half hour features the latest R&B soul/rap music hot off the press, new releases and interviews with famous black artists from around the world.

After the news there are features from around the world - Reggae music from Jamaica featuring the latest reggae music, interviews and local reggae artists. There are guests who come to the studio with the latest gossip features surrounding the black music scene.

9:30pm it's the hip hop/rap part of the Upfront programme with Nikki Blaze featuring local talent, and UK underground talent, live guests in the studio, freestyling and competitions.

Upfront has been on air for over 23 years and Mandy has been with the programme from the day it started out.

Mandy also does voluntary work with a theatre company called Blue Badge Theatre. The company has been running for just under 2 years and works with people and disabilities.
