Wirral鈥檚 skyline to rival New YorkPlans to transform Wirral with skyscrapers new Three Graces have been revealed. What do you think of the development?

| | A 拢4.5 billion waterside scheme, described as the largest project in the UK, will see the dock lands of Birkenhead transformed into a network of homes, offices and leisure and retail facilities.
Skyscrapers, like that seen in Singapore and Sydney, could line the waterside providing a range of facilities totaling 18 million square foot of development.

Three 50 storey towers, to be known as Wirral鈥檚 Three Graces, will be the focal point of the development, and will stand on a purpose built island in the heart of the site.
The island Manhatten style island, linked with pedestrian bridges, will provide housing for up to 25,000 people in 15,000 apartments and will be surrounded by a huge marina.
Plans stretch out to Bidston Moss where a new retail park will be developed near the existing B&Q and also include the improvement of existing port activity at Twelve Quays and The West Float. The major regeneration at Alfred Dock and Vittoria Docks will be most impressive with a buildings inspired by architecture from around the world, including an iconic building in the style of New York鈥檚 Flatiron Building.

Peel Holdings who are behind the plans have a track record including developments at Salford Quays and The Trafford Centre, which critics said would never happen and now attracts 30 million visitors a year.
Councillors in Wirral have welcomed the plans which have been 18 months in development and will create over 27,000 jobs. The scale of the proposed regeneration means a government public inquiry will needed before any work can start. What do you think of the plans? terrible!!! The buildings will ruin the river-sides beauty as it is today! I think some buildins will look good but others will look quite clumsy. From the top picture we can't even see the Liver Buildings any more . I think it is quite stupid and rushed, I don't think it has been planned and thought through properly !

I would love this development to go ahead, and i wouldnt complain if the buildings where taller, but before so much money is spent on developing one area, the whole of the wirral needs to be redeveloped, most of the roads here are a joke, buildings are left looking like favelas. Wirral really needs to get on the map, and thats how we'll do it!

As I understand it, this will take something like 30 years to complete. Forgive me for being a bit synical, but with rising material costs and the need for a greener environmental outlook, I can see this project falling by the wayside.
