Liverpool People and Places

Photographs of Liverpool by Chambre Hardman will go on display alongside new images of the city in a new exhibition.

The project which is part of the National Trust's celebration in Liverpool 2008, will see 20 iconic images of the city by Chambre Hardman displayed alongside new work from young residents of Liverpool.

The young people have spent the last four months capturing the city, it's life and heritage via photography, as Hardman himself did during the last century.

The project aims to capture Liverpool in the 21st century through the eyes of young people who will record the natural and artistic heritage of their home city.

Laura Naylor, Community Project Officer and exhibition organiser says:

"We have been working with five organisations so far on the project: Interchill, Liverpool Community College, Shorefields Technology College, New Heys Community School and South Liverpool Youth Offending Team. We will shortly be joining forces with KIND.

"All participants in the project toured Hardman's former home and studio at 59 Rodney Street and were supplied with an 'Inspiration Pack' for the project which included a selection of landscapes and portraits".

The National Trust hopes to take the exhibition to various communities across Liverpool bringing Hardman's photographs to a wider audience.

Liverpool People and Places will open in the Met Quarter on 7 April 2008 and will then tour across the city until November 2008.
