Hulme schoolboy David Wilkinson

Blogging in the playground

By James Bentley
David Wilkinson is like most 12-year-old boys. He enjoys playing on his computer, but alongside the usual games, he also makes more use of the Internet than most by telling the world about the news that’s important to him…

As just one of the world’s millions of bloggers – people who keep an online diary that can be read by anyone with an Internet connection – he filters the information about his favourite technology and puts it on his own website.

And he’s even helped Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio Manchester’s very own Eamonn O’Neal create his own blog, highlighting his particular brand of humour.

"I’ve been interested in computers all my life," said David. "My dad worked with them so I took an interest and I’ve been trying to learn more ever since," he said.

David’s online writing lets viewers know about what’s moving and shaking the world of technology. It’s his passion and he loves spreading the word amongst his fellow believers.

"I really like everything to do with technology and this is a great way to talk about it and let others know what I like," he beamed.

However, he’s quick to point out that his knowledge isn’t that advanced in relation to his computer-savvy school pals.

"I know a bit more than the others but generally, we all know about computers because they’re so important."

After explaining that "being able to write what you want, uncensored, is fantastic" to Eamonn, David then went about creating a vehicle for the host’s unique take on what it is to be funny in the aptly-titled blog 'Bad Jokes R Us'.
