Now in its third year, Book Week NI is a joint initiative between 主播大秀 Northern Ireland and Libraries NI. It celebrates the pleasures of reading - and how books and libraries can provide us with points of connection and discovery.

Starting on Monday 19 November 主播大秀 Radio Ulster/Foyle will be buzzing with interviews, conversations and features which will not only celebrate reading and books, but will also illustrate the many different services that libraries provide for people of all ages, right across the region.

There will also be a series of three lunchtime events in Broadcasting House, Belfast as part of activities to mark Book Week 2018.

These events will feature authors chatting about poems and poetry, libraries and how the stories that we read in childhood can provide a lifetime of memories and benefits. Guests will include Allie Esiri whose anthologies of poems for every day and night of the year have helped to bring poetry to a new audience; William Sieghart, who has compiled several poetry anthologies and established The Poetry Pharmacy in 2014; Patricia Craig, who Michael Longley suggests "must be one of the best-read people in the world" and has written a memoir of childhood reading; and Ella Berthoud who has co-authored two books with advice for children and adults on the novels that can help us to deal with life’s different situations and eventualities.

Each of these events will include a selection of readings chosen by the guests and there will be opportunities for questions and comments from the audience.

A 主播大秀 Lunchtime Conversation with Allie Esiri, will take place on Monday 19 November. The conversation with Patricia Craig and Ella Berthoud will take place on Wednesday 21 November and the final conversation with William Sieghart will take place on Friday 23 November. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival and all events will begin promptly at 1pm.

These events are expected to be popular and tickets will be restricted to two per applicant. Tickets and admission to Broadcasting House will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The finale of Book Week NI 2018 will be a special family concert of music and readings. A Box Of Delights will be held on Sunday 25 November in the Ulster Hall at 3pm and will feature readings alongside music from film and television performed by the Ulster Orchestra which has been inspired by much loved books including Matilda, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Mary Poppins, Gone With The Wind, Tintin, 101 Dalmatians, the Arabian Nights, Narnia, Paddington Bear and The Lord of the Rings.
