The Gohil and Al-Sheiks from Ruislip in London are a family whose cooking styles have been inspired by their various travels around the world. They’re happiest experimenting with different flavour combinations and creating tasty, nutritious food from scratch that can be shared with a big group of family or friends.

Gemini and Pinki both grew up eating traditional Indian food, most of it vegetarian, and learnt to cook from their mothers at an early age. They are both Hindu and do not handle or eat beef. Pinki is the most accomplished cook of the team and is the one that everyone likes to impress. Pinki’s biggest concern is not the cooking itself, but that Waleed and his creative streak could create too much mess in the kitchen and cause her to have a meltdown during the competition.

Waleed, an IT consultant, found his passion for cooking much later in life, only properly learning to cook a year and a half ago when his and Gemini’s daughter was born. His latest imagination - to unite Christmas and Diwali - is a cranberry and turkey stuffed samosa. His creations can take some time to produce and his hit rate is around 70 percent. Gemini, an A Level Economics teacher, is a solid, trusty culinarian who will happily cook up a storm with anything she can find in the fridge.

The Gohil and Al-Sheikhs have pet names for each other - Pinki is 'duck' because she tends to flap her wings in the kitchen, Waleed 'goose' because he is tall and Gemini 'goat' for no particular reason!

Tommy Banks

Born and raised in Oldstead, North Yorkshire, into a family of farmers, chef Tommy Banks’s passion for food and nature flourished from a young age.

Tommy’s family bought The Black Swan just as he finished school and he started working there with no real intention of becoming a chef, but by 2013, at the age of 24, Tommy was awarded a Michelin Star - making him the youngest Michelin-starred chef in Britain at the time.
