In this episode we explore the lives of painted wolves, of which there are only 6,600 left in the world.
Tait is a matriarch. For years she has used her power to keep the peace within her sprawling family - a peace that has allowed her dynasty to rule the floodplains of the great Zambezi river. But now she is old and her influence is waning. A new force is emerging from within her own family that threatens to shatter that peace.
Her daughter, Blacktip has been growing in strength. Now she leads her pack into her mother’s heartlands - the richest and safest territory in the whole region. In a surprise attack she drives her mother out and takes over.
In the chaos that follows, Blacktip and her mother are forced to confront the mortal dangers of hyenas and crocodiles. Their puppies are threatened. And as Blacktip pursues her mother ever further into dangerous lands, both must face the might of a Painted Wolf’s greatest enemy - the lions.
