DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) and the team enter a nest of vipers when zoo owner Xander Shepherd (Jonathan Kerrigan) is poisoned by a tranquiliser dart in the middle of the zoo grounds, leaving the family-run business in turmoil.

With the zoo shut to the public at 5pm, and Xander’s family and co-workers the only other people on the premises at the time of the murder, suspicion falls upon Xander’s fellow colleagues. However, as all of the suspects were together in the staff area when the crime was committed, and with a clear view of the grounds, how could any of them have killed Xander?

Meanwhile, the arrival of new police officer Ruby Patterson (Shyko Amos), who happens to also be the Commissioner’s niece, keeps Jack and the team on their toes, as the Commissioner (Don Warrington) keeps a watchful eye on her progress.

Elsewhere Jack faces a mammoth task when he is signed up to the island’s charity swim race, and Florence (Josephine Jobert) seeks relationship advice. JP (Tobi Bakare) takes on the responsibility of mentoring Ruby (Shyko Amos) whilst Ruby makes an interesting discovery when surveying boats at the marina.
