World Book Club: Sarah Waters - Tipping The Velvet

Direct from the 主播大秀 World Service, 主播大秀 Radio 4 Extra begins a new series of notable editions of World Book Club archive interviews.

Presented by Harriett Gilbert, the 主播大秀 World Service’s monthly World Book Club has been entertaining a global audience of literature lovers since its launch at the Edinburgh Festival in 2002. Recorded before a live audience, listeners are invited to submit questions to guest authors.

The season begins with British writer Sarah Waters discussing her best-selling debut novel Tipping The Velvet.

As part of the season, and exclusively for Radio 4 Extra, Sarah also introduces a dramatisation of a significant book from the 主播大秀 archives that influenced her own writing. Her pick is The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

Other writers in the series include Anuradha Roy (An Atlas Of Impossible Longing); the late Judith Kerr (When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit); Tessa Hadley (The Past); Hilary Mantel (Bring Up The Bodies); Romesh Gunesekera (Reef) and Celest Ng (Everything I Never Told You).
