Muncaster - Visitor Guide

Address:

Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass, Cumbria.

Postcode CA18 1RQ

Best times to visit:

Spring is a great time to visit Muncaster and its woods.

Herons - Herons are one of the earliest breeding birds in Britain, second only to Ravens, so a visit here in April will find the chicks well grown and almost ready to fly.

Ìý

Being on this raised bank at Muncaster means you can get a really good view of the birds by looking out across, instead of craning your neck up at the birds in the nest.

Ìý

Happy Heron Hour - the birds are fed daily at 4.30pm in the afternoon.

Insect watching - early morning is a good time when these creatures tend to still be a little cold and sluggish so it's an ideal time of day for getting a good close look at them.
