A healthcare worker who admitted abusing women with mental disorders in Cornwall has been jailed.

Michael Callon, 40, of Pendarves View, Camborne - and formerly of Marazion - admitted sexually abusing two women.

At Truro Crown Court on Thursday, he pleaded guilty to six counts of sexually abusing a woman, who he knew had a mental disorder.

Callon, who was employed by Cornwall Foundation Trust, previously admitted sexually abusing another woman.

'Prolonged and traumatic'

As part of his position, Callon provided mental health support to two women who lived in the Penzance area.

The court heard that during his employment he took advantage of their vulnerabilities forming inappropriate sexual relationships.

Det Sgt Andy Buckley said: "The victims were subjected to a prolonged and traumatic period of abuse and there will be ongoing support for them to deal with the abuses of trust they have endured.

"Hopefully decisions such as this will give vulnerable people the confidence to come forward and report incidents of concern - especially that of professional abuse."

Callon was sentenced to three years in prison.
