CROWD REACTION: Indifference, initially, since "The Reverend" Jon McClure had to instruct his band not to touch their instruments until everyone comes up front and starts havin' it large, and what not. To be fair, this did get people out of the beer tents and generally in the right place (i.e watching the band), but that singalong to 'He Said He Loves Me' was no 'Yoshimi'. STAND OUT MOMENT: When the most entertaining moments of the set involve watching the builders on the adjacent site dancing and air ironically playing air guitar with their tools, you're in trouble. The band's songs are relatively inoffensive, (if a little worn out and obvious), it's the arrogant posturing of "The Reverend" that makes their performance so yawn-worthy. Some might see a charismatic front man; others a conceited, overbearing, self aggrandizing egotist. They did have some pretty lights, though. BELSONIC RATING: Purely for the lights, and the fact that they did manage to get people moving and up to the front, we'll give it a 4 out of 10. ORLA GRAHAM Gig Details Related Links | ||
