With Sweet Jane billed but missing, White Lies are left as sole support to kick off and warm up for Glasvegas.

They open in style with two singles, 'Unfinished Business' and 'To Lose My Life'. The sound is keyboard led with big drums, rhythm guitar and low, deep vocals. Something of Interpol, something of a throwback to OMD and Ultravox. They play through a solid set and finish with a third single, 'Death'. The songs in between promise well for an album due out soon.

A growing crowd is appreciative, and with good label support behind them I'd guess we'll see White Lies back in their own right. We'll buy a ticket for sure. Good stuff.

Glasvegas take the stage and it's straight into 'Flowers and Football Tops'. The band are up for it, the crowd are up for it, and things hit an early peak with 'Geraldine'. By the time we get to 'Go Square Go' James can step back and bask as the crowd sings to him.

The trademark wall of sound rocks the hall and gets a big reaction, but the distinctive Glasvegas lead guitar gets buried in the layers of distortion. We get almost all of the debut album and 'Please Come 主播大秀' from the Christmas EP. 'Daddy's Gone' is another big crowd-pleaser which becomes a sing-a-long at the end of the encore.

A good show full of passion and energy from a band who make stunning songs out of the darker bits of life. Had the guitar been ringing out to give more shape to the sound it would have been better still.

Glasvegas should be around for a while- we look forward to their next visit.
