This gig always was going to be life threatening. Cannibal Corpse are one of the most famous death metal bands, which is an impressive headliner alone, but when you add Atrax Mantis and local metallers Condemned to the bill you get a night guaranteed to end in bloodshed.

First band on is Atrax Mantis, a four piece death metal band who where impressive, to say the least. They certainly know to build an atmosphere, with giant riffs and songs like Human Condition designed to encourage hate. With nice little twists, such as jazz played between riffs and some slap bass in songs, they're a very interesting band and one to look out for.

Second is Belfast based band Condemned, who aren't for the fainthearted, but they do well, creating the angry atmosphere this music is well known for. With calls for more headbanging, thankfully members of the audience have long hair for a reason, and they certainly won the crowd over.

Finally come the headliners Cannibal Corpse and you can feel the anticipation for them before they've even come on stage. Up until now the crowd have been quite reserved for a death metal gig, but as soon as the first riff is heard on the opening song, Scalding Hail, the crowd goes berserk and the venue becomes a giant moshpit, friends, loved ones and family members all blending into a giant circle of carnage. 听

As if this crowd needs any encouragement to go insane the singer, George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher lets us know that he doesn't like the idea of people not being involved in the mosh pit, encouraging those inside to throw others in.

Overall this was an incredible night and a great demonstration that when Belfast rocks, it rocks hard.
