Tuesday night sees Auntie Annies play host to Paul Shevlin, Adam Devenney and newbies Eatenbybears. By 9.30pm the茂驴陆tiny venue is filling up and it's good to see such a strong turn out so early in the night.

First up is Paul Shevlin, and whilst he has undeniably proved his credentials in the past, without a backing band he seems unable to fully captivate, the audience's attention occasionally wandering elsewhere. Although his songs are catchy, in a solo performance they can come across as slightly unremarkable, requiring that little something extra.

Next up is Adam Devenney with backing band in tow. Kicking things off in an acoustic fashion, it sounds raw, Adam's voice hit a few bum notes at times, but completely fitting in with the indie-folk vibe of the music. He then dons an electric guitar, the band becoming a lot tighter as the set progresses. Paul Shevlin returns to the stage for a song, lyrics clutched in his hand. He doesn't really appear to comprehend what he's doing, but it's endearingly fun to watch. Overall, it's a fine performance, but a lack of stand-out songs might prevent punters from rushing out to see him again.

There are currently high expectations for Eatenbybears, particularly after Scottish indie-rockers said some kind things about them on Rory McConnell''s 主播大秀 Introducing programme on Radio 1, and in a music scene with many bands coming from the same genre pool, it's refreshing to see something a bit different. The band are made up of a drummer, guitarist, bassist and violinist, which altogether gives them their own stamp.

The set is largely instrumental, and with a fine bunch of instrumental acts in the scene at the moment, it is sometimes hard to stick out, but these guys definitely manage it for all the right reasons. 'Vanderhoof' is the perfect song to finish with and provokes a stomping response from the riled crowd. Having only been their second gig茂驴陆it is understandable that they could be a little nervous, and at times the band do seem disjointed.茂驴陆Overall this茂驴陆doesn't matter as the crowd are out in full force supporting, and deservedly so. Eatenbybears are certainly worth checking out!
