Children taking part in the Youth Games

Youth Games

The Leeds Trinity North Yorkshire Games is an annual event hosted by the County Sports Partnerships. Jack Taylor is a sixth form student at Harrogate High School and is one of the 1,500 young people talking part in this years event.

Youth means the early stages of development. Games mean a contest with rules to determine a winner. Youth Games means exactly this with the addition of excitement, healthy competition and fun.

Children taking part in sport

A wide variety of sports feature in the games.

The Leeds Trinity North Yorkshire Youth Games brings young avid sport enthusiasts from across the region to a central venue to compete each year.

Year after year has seen the highs and lows of competition and a huge amount of excitement throughout the day at Ampleforth College.
When the sun shines the venue is perfect, and when (occasionally) nature takes its toll and the rain pours, the resilience of North Yorkshire folk shines through and the competitors rise to the challenge.

The Leeds Trinity North Yorkshire Youth Games mean a great deal to the young people across the region, with interschool and intra district competitions before the games being held to determine which young people gain a place to compete at this high class sporting event.

At every stage of their involvement in the Games, young people are encouraged to continue their interest in sport, being sign posted to local clubs and groups which will help them grow and develop a lifelong passion for sport and physical activity.

Being a huge success over the years it has gained media attention with 主播大秀 Radio York covering the day, alongside local media links. As well as the children having fun it also provides placement opportunities for volunteers from the local schools and Universities and if you're lucky you may see sporting celebrities.
