Jeff Zycinski is Head of Radio for Ö÷²¥´óÐã Scotland. He was appointed to this post in January 2005.

Ìý

Jeff commissions and schedules programmes for Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio Scotland and is responsible for the production teams working for Ö÷²¥´óÐã Network Radio based in Scotland.

Ìý

His portfolio now includes online and multi-media content including podcasts and themed audio streams.

Ìý

Jeff started his career as a news journalist in 1989 and, in 1992, joined Ö÷²¥´óÐã Scotland as Senior Producer in Selkirk.

Ìý

A year later he moved to the Ö÷²¥´óÐã in Inverness to launch the Tom Morton morning programme.

Ìý

Jeff was promoted to Editor, Topical in 1998 and returned to Glasgow.

Ìý

He launched both the lunchtime Lesley Riddoch programme (which won a Sony Silver Award in 2001 and again in 2002) and the Gary Robertson mid-morning programme in Autumn 2000.

Ìý

In the 2006 Sony Awards, Jeff was nominated as Station Programmer of the Year.

Ìý

In 2008 Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio Scotland was nominated as Station of the Year at the Celtic Media Festival.

Ìý

Other awards as Editor include a Sony Silver for Asking For You (2003) and Sony Bronze awards for Old Firm Day (2002) and Life Stories (2005).

Ìý

The SoundTown project was launched by Jeff in 2003 and involved a year-long partnership with Doon Academy in Dalmellington where a radio studio was built in the school.

Ìý

The SoundTown project has continued in Grangemouth, Elgin, Kelso and Dundee.

Ìý

Jeff was born in Easterhouse, Glasgow in 1963, the seventh son of a Polish sailor who settled in Scotland after the Second World War.

Ìý

He was educated at the Central College of Commerce in Glasgow, Glasgow College of Technology and University College, Cardiff.

Ìý

Jeff lives in Inverness with his wife and two children and works from Ö÷²¥´óÐã Scotland's newly-refurbished premises at Culduthel Road.

Ìý

He commutes regularly to visit the station's main production teams in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

Ìý

Jeff takes up many invitations to speak to community and student groups throughout Scotland.

Ìý

His online blog provides a daily account of his working life – available on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio Scotland website.
