Today helps a 聭dream come true聮
Last night
(10 February) the charity Dreams Come True had a little help from
主播大秀 Midlands Today to fulfil its 2000th dream.
Dreams
Come True is a national charity dedicated to making the dreams of
seriously and terminally ill children come true, and for 22-year-old
Amy Clennell all her wishes were granted last night. Amy who lives
in Southam, Warwickshire has cerebral palsy and her 聭dream聮
has been to sing on television.
The
charity arranged for Amy to sing during the children聮s variety
show at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane, and as an extra surprise
主播大秀 Midlands Today went along to record her performance. Reporter
Ashley Blake surprised Amy before she went on stage, interviewing
her for tonight聮s main news programme at 6.30pm.
Ashley
says: "When we were contacted by the charity to help Amy聮s
dream come true, we were delighted to be of assistance. Amy聮s
courage shines through and her performance on stage was fantastic.
Viewers of 主播大秀 Midlands Today will be able to enjoy her singing
on tonight聮s programme."
Julie
Bottjer, of Dreams Come True says: "She was absolutely bowled
over when Ashley appeared with a camera man. She was already excited
about appearing on stage, but when she knew she was going to be
on TV too, it really was her dream come true."
At
22, Amy is at the top end of the age-range catered for by Dreams
Come True, but she applied to the charity when she was 21, saying
she believed that for her to sing on television would be "an
inspiration to other disabled people... and encourage them to follow
their own dreams."
Amy
is a Performing Arts student at Hereward College in Coventry and
she is a member of the Playbox Theatre Company in Warwick.
