ABOUT THE 主播大秀

主播大秀 TWO innovates in verse this Winter

An innovative visual anthology of poetry, together with a competition to find Britain's best new poet, headline a broad ranging 拢100 million Winter season on 主播大秀 TWO.

Poetry is brought to life in Essemtial Poems (To Fall In Love With) Over 35 actors and celebrities, including Damian Lewis, Christopher Lee, Amanda Holden, Lesley Manville, Jimi Mistry, Prunella Scales and Ioan Gruffudd act out some of the world's most memorable love poetry in Essential Poems (To Fall In Love With).

The poems include Andrew Marvell's To His Coy Mistress, Sonnet 129 by William Shakespeare and Bloody Men by Wendy Cope.

All on the theme of love, Essential Poems celebrates St Valentine's Day on 主播大秀 TWO.

Writer Daisy Goodwin leads viewers through a week-long poetic journey with poems surprising viewers as they turn up throughout the schedule.

There will also be an online poetry competition to find Britain's best new poet. The winning poem will get the same Essential Poems treatment later in the year.

Later in the season, a drama documentary Love Again will focus on poet Philip Larkin's complex relationships with women, starring Hugh Bonneville with Tara Fitzgerald and Eileen Atkins.

主播大秀 TWO is also aiming to direct some of the passion and energy of Great Britons into a big arts initiative, launching this winter and culminating in the autumn.

The Big Read will be Britain's biggest ever celebration of the joy and magic of reading literature.

In an exciting new initiative spanning television, radio, online and interactive services, The Big Read goes in search of Britain's best-loved book.

During the year the campaign, fronted by well known public figures, will be encouraging readers around the country to read, talk about and vote for their all-time favourite works of fiction.

They will be supported by special reading groups, and will work with schools and colleges throughout Britain.

From old favourites to modern classics, a unique opportunity for readers everywhere to share their appreciation of, and love for, some of the world's greatest literature.

Says Jane Root, Controller of 主播大秀 TWO: "Great Britons has shown us that viewers can be just as passionate about, and get just as involved in, big scale factual events, as they can be about entertainment formats.

"Over 1.6 million people voted for their greatest Briton and many more watched, enjoyed, debated and learnt from the series.

"I think viewers will be just as enthused by a programme about literature, as books have a very personal effect on their readers and mean something different to each person.

"We want to give everybody the opportunity to be passionately involved in the pleasure that books can bring. The possibilities for breathing life into books in classrooms and homes across the nation are endless."

Powerful drama

Real Men - a powerful new drama for 主播大秀 TWODrama tackles a difficult subject that often creates a passionate response.
