主播大秀 Radio 1 unveils details of new music show to replace The Evening Session

Colin Murray will front the new show on 主播大秀 Radio 1
主播大秀 Radio 1 has today announced details of its brand new music programme launching on Tuesday 7 January 2003.

The show, dedicated to playing the best new music to a nationwide audience, will be the first place to hear breaking bands and artists across a range of styles and genres.

As well as giving exposure to the bands that matter to the Radio 1 audience there will be live music, the best guests with the most passionate opinions about music and a direct route to the tracks that you have to hear.

The show will run from 8.00 to 10.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Colin Murray will front the programme when it launches in January.

After 11 years, The Evening Session will broadcast its last show on Thursday 19 December and Steve Lamacq will then concentrate on Lamacq Live as well as outside broadcasts and other projects for Radio 1.

Colin said: "I'm busting to get going on the show. I'm so excited I may let the tyres down on Westwood's A-Team van.''

Andy Parfitt, Controller of Radio 1, said: "We're really pleased that Colin is going to be launching the show for us.

"It's time for a fresh approach to underground and alternative music and this show will totally champion that idea.

"Colin is a fresh young talent who is going places at Radio 1."

The Sessions in The Nations will be changing their names from Friday 20 December and will become:

Bethan and Huw on Radio 1 in Wales

Vic and Gill on Radio 1 in Scotland

Donna Legge on Radio 1 in Northern Ireland
