Fame Academy - the final students

Three hopefuls last night (Wednesday 6 August) won the final Fame Academy places after a live battle on 主播大秀 ONE.

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty introduced stunning performances from six potential students.

The two hopefuls with the most viewers' votes automatically won places:

Nick Hall, aged 29 from Birmingham, soft rock, guitarist, songwriter who sany Hero;

and Alex Parks, aged 18 from Truro, folk-indie, guitarist, singer-songwriter who sany Beautiful.

With only one place left in Fame Academy 2003 it was up to the ten students from previous shows and the latest two winners to make the final choice.

In a tense vote Lorna Grant, aged 20 from Edinburgh, grabbed the third and final place with all twelve of the votes after singing Say What You Want.

Afterwards Nick said: "I had absolutely no idea if I'd made it. It's amazing. You just go out there and sing to the person the song is for - I was singing it for my fianc茅e.

"I want to write songs, that's what I'm about, writing songs from the heart."

Alex said: "I was really surprised that the panel all said good things. I watched Fame Academy last year, my dad was obsessed, it's so weird that I'm going to be in there this year.

"To get the teaching we are going to get is amazing. It's an opportunity I would never get in my life without Fame Academy."

Lorna said: "I thought when I heard the judges' comments I was going home!

"I really enjoyed the performance. It wasn't my usual type of song so it was good."

For the unsuccessful hopefuls the Fame Academy dream is over, after months of auditions that started with over 12,000 applicants:

Terence Surin, aged 20 from South East London, RnB, soul and pop who sang End Of The Road; Janee Bennett, aged 21 from Stockport, pop, reggae who sang When A Man Loves A Woman and Mark Vallance, aged 25 from Birmingham, RnB, pop, guitarist, songwriter who sang I Want You Back.

The panel, made up of Bee Gee Robin Gibb, Carrie and David Grant (vocal coaches) and Richard Park (Head Teacher), helped viewers with expert opinions and analysis on the performances.

With all 13 Academy places decided the doors opened and the Fame Academy students made their way into their new home.

They have only three days to prepare for the first live showdown when all the students will sing for survival (主播大秀 ONE, Saturday 9 August at 6.25pm. The result is on 主播大秀 ONE at 8.15pm).
