Ioan
Gruffudd "gutted" over lack of love scenes in new film

In
an exclusive interview with 主播大秀 Radio Cymru, heart-throb
Ioan Gruffudd has admitted to being "gutted" that
his new blockbuster King Arthur contained no love scenes between
him and gorgeous actress Keira Knightley.
So
much is the excitement over the actor's new film, in which he stars
as Lancelot alongside Clive Owen, Ray Winstone and Knightley, that
the opening date has been brought forward from the end of 2004 to
July.
But
speaking exclusively to Radio Cymru's showbiz programme, Showbusnesan,
broadcast tomorrow (Wednesday 7 January, Radio Cymru, 12.50pm),
Gruffudd reveals his only regret is that there was no chance of
any love scenes between him and Knightley, something he says he's
"gutted" about.
"Unfortunately,
as in the old legend, there isn't an affair between Lancelot and
Guinevere, the relationship is between Arthur [played by Clive Owen]
and Guinevere [Knightley]," Gruffudd tells presenter Ieuan
Rhys.
"I'm
gutted about that."
Knightley,
who shot to fame in Brit-flick Bend it Like Beckham, became an international
star during the filming of King Arthur in Ireland following the
release of The Pirates of the Caribbean in which she starred alongside
Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
"There
are no red-hot scenes!" laughs Gruffudd.
"I
only have two or three scenes with her and our characters argue
through most of the film."
As
soon as filming in Wicklow, Ireland, was over Ioan "Hornblower"
Gruffudd, who started his career as a schoolboy actor in 主播大秀 Wales'
Welsh language soap Pobol y Cwm, jetted off to spend Christmas and
New Year in Mexico with his long-term girlfriend, actress Alice
Evans.
He's
now back in LA filming Century
City, a futuristic American TV series about a company of LA lawyers,
starring Viola Davies (City of Angels) and Hector Elizondo (Pretty
Woman). It
could provide a stepping stone to even greater things for Ioan.
"I
hope it does," he says. "As we all know from seeing the
career of somebody like George Clooney. He was in ER for eight years
before moving into cinema films. Who knows!"
Gruffudd
will also reveal an interesting fact about the beard he had to grow
for the part of Lancelot.
