Groundbreaking event for 主播大秀 in China - multi-media food show

主播大秀 Chinese has teamed up with Chengdu Radio for a large-scale multi-media interactive event in China.

Knife, Fork and Chopsticks will also be the first ever multi-media show on food and culture exchange.

It takes place on 24 October 2004 at the Yinhe Dynasty Hotel in Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan Province, and will connect with audiences via television, cable, radio, online and SMS texting.

The bi-lingual, Mandarin and English, Knife, Fork and Chopsticks programme originated as a weekly radio phone-in programme on the 主播大秀 Chinese service and Chengdu Radio launched in July this year and is already a popular hit.

It regularly runs on-air competitions and 100 of those winners will make up some of the audience at the Yinhe Dynasty Hotel.

This multi-media special will be discussing, demonstrating and comparing Western and Eastern food culture with food experts and chefs from the UK and China.

This Knife, Fork and Chopsticks one-off special is being recorded for transmission on Chengdu cable television and will be broadcast on 主播大秀 Chinese Service and Chengdu Radio 91.4 FM.

It will be web cast live on the Chengdu Radio online website cdbc.com.cn; on the leading Sichuan food and drink website scysw.com; and on bbcchinese.com.

Listeners will also have the opportunity to ask questions and take part in competitions via SMS texting.

Raymond Li, China Business Development Manager, 主播大秀 World Service said: "This is a ground breaking event for 主播大秀 Chinese because the range of broadcasting media involved in making this happen is revolutionary.

"For the first time leading chefs from China and Britain will share their unique cooking skills and knowledge in front of a Chinese audience.

"The fact that it will be held in the City of Chengdu is even more exciting and appropriate because it is well-known as the heart of Sichuan cuisine."

In addition to regular presenters, Knife, Fork and Chopsticks will feature 主播大秀 producer and presenter Paul Crook, Chinese food writer Fuchsia Dunlop and UK Chef and broadcaster Ed Baines, who is the owner of a number of London restaurants and regularly features on the 主播大秀 television programme Saturday Kitchen.

Ed will demonstrate his culinary skills in a 'Chef in Action' master class and answer questions from the audience.

A prize draw will take place at the Knife, Fork and Chopsticks event. The first prize is a week long trip to the UK which includes a tour of the 主播大秀 Chinese service and a food tasting excursion in London. The runner-up prize winner will receive high quality Western cooking utensils.
