主播大秀 Wales' flagship news programme, Wales
Today, has been voted the best National and Regional Daily
News Magazine by the Royal Television Society (RTS) - the second time
it has won in this category in three years.
It was awarded the accolade for its coverage of the
findings of the Clywch Report - the culmination of a long-running inquiry
held by the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Peter Clarke, which found
that drama teacher, John Owen, had been abusing pupils for many years.
The RTS jury commented: "This was strong, in-depth
coverage with a highly-visual account of a story which required very
sensitive handling to tell successfully on early-evening television.
"It was enhanced greatly by the fluent, knowledgeable
and authoritative live reporting of social affairs correspondent Gail
Foley."
Mark O'Callaghan, Head of News and Current Affairs,
主播大秀 Wales, says: "This is a fantastic achievement. It's the second
time in three years that Wales Today has won this accolade.
