Chris Evans is to present two shows for 主播大秀 Radio 2 over the Easter
bank holiday.
Chris makes his return to the national radio airwaves on Friday 25
March and Monday 28 March between 2.00 and 5.00pm to present a music
based show with his own inimitable stamp on it.
Chris says: "My love of radio is no secret so I'm excited about
doing this for Radio 2. I'm looking forward to playing some great music
on a bank holiday."
Lesley Douglas, Controller of Radio 2, says: "Chris Evans is
a unique talent and Radio 2 listeners are in for a real treat over Easter."
Other highlights in Radio 2's Easter schedule include Eddie
Izzard's Late Night Cabaret and Eric
Clapton - Slowhand At 60.
In the week of his 60th birthday - 30 March - guitar legend Eric Clapton
joins Radio 2 presenter Johnnie Walker (born the same
day) for his first full length radio interview in a number of years.
In Eric Clapton - Slowhand At 60, broadcast on Saturday 26 March and
Saturday 2 April at 8.30pm, Clapton recalls his 40 plus years in the
music business, beginning with the Yardbirds and Cream, before progressing
to international stardom as a solo performer.
He talks openly about his personal battles with drug and alcohol addiction
and gives an insight into his music and philosophy of music making.
Featured music includes Got To Hurry (the Yardbirds), Telephone Blues
(John Mayall's Bluesbreakers), Spoonful (Cream), Layla (Derek & The
Dominoes), Wonderful Tonight, Forever Man, Bad Love and Tears In Heaven.
Eddie Izzard is joined by Jerry Hall
and Pete Townshend for Eddie Izzard's Late Night Cabaret
- Saturday 26 March at 9.30pm.
Jerry Hall gives an exclusive first performance of Around This Table
which she describes as "when people get a divorce and they're disappointed,
and sad and angry and they put it all into an object."
She is accompanied by The Who's Pete Townshend and Rachel
Fuller.
This new, intimate late night cabaret style recording also features
Beverley Knight singing Come As You Are and God Bless
The Child; and co-presenter Guy Barker and his jazz
septet perform, amongst other things, Wrap Party, a piece composed especially
for the programme.
The evening, recorded at Ronnie Scotts in London, also showcases the
talents of poets Luke Wright and Jude Simpson
and comedian Ava Vidal.
