主播大秀 Radio Leicester has announced details of a new weekday presenting line-up today - signalling the return of Tony Wadsworth to the radio station where he began his broadcasting career more than 20 years ago.
He'll also be joined by his wife Julie Mayer as the station refreshes its output in line with its move to St Nicholas Place.
The new schedule starts on Monday 11 April when the station goes live from its new state-of-the art broadcasting centre.
Tony re-joins Radio Leicester after spending more than ten years in the West Midlands as a presenter on 主播大秀 WM, most recently co-hosting the Late Show with Julie.
On his move back to Leicester Tony says: "I'm thrilled to be going back to my roots. My hometown has always been close to my heart.
"You can take the lad out of Leicester - but you can't take Leicester out of the lad!"
Julie adds: "It's great to be returning home. Leicester holds so many memories. It'll be like revisiting the scrapbook of my life. I relish the challenge of familiarising myself once again with the place and the people who have played a part in who I am today."
Kate Squire, Managing Editor, Radio Leicester, says: "I'm delighted Tony and Julie are returning to their Leicestershire roots to join our presenter line-up.
"They are engaging, fun and fiercely local. They'll be a big asset to our team and I'm confident the listeners will thoroughly enjoy them.
"From time to time it's important we refresh our schedules to ensure we fully reflect the changing society in which we live."
John Florance will front a new afternoon show, while Martin Ballard is set for the drive-time slot.
The new schedule:
6.00-9.00am: Ben Jackson
Keeping you informed while raising a smile - the Radio Leicester Breakfast Show. An essential mix of news, travel, sport, weather and entertainment - effortlessly held together by a Leicestershire lad with the warmest voice in radio.
9.00-11.00am: Tony Wadsworth
On the bus, in the pub, at the match, over the garden fence - Tony wants to be part of the conversation. Your friend and your champion, Tony's on your side. Enjoy a lively blend of music and topical conversation - with a man who'll make you smile and make your day.
11.00am-noon: Tony Wadsworth and Julie Mayer
Celebrity guests, relationships, romance, laughter - and occasionally the odd disagreement - from the sharpest couple in broadcasting.
Noon-2.00pm: Julie Mayer
Feel-good radio at lunchtime. Julie's here to make it all better, with a combination of brilliant music and lifestyle themes that'll improve the way you feel about yourself and the way you look at life.
2.00-4.00pm: John Florance
Relax, slow down and enjoy your best friend with his afternoon companions. Let John solve some of life's little frustrations, while introducing you to Leicestershire and Rutland characters with a story to tell.
4.00-7.00pm: Martin Ballard
Your opportunity to catch up with the day's events, from a Leicestershire and Rutland perspective. Three hours of news, travel, weather, music and entertainment - a celebration of local life, events and people - with a special focus on sport every night from 6.00pm.
