主播大秀 Radio Five Live's General Election coverage in the run up to the poll on 5 May will for the first time include key simulcasts with the 主播大秀 Asian Network and 主播大秀 1Xtra.

The broadcasts underpin a commitment to bring the General Election to younger, more ethnically diverse and regionally dispersed audiences, some of whom have been seen as disillusioned with conventional political debate.

As well as more Election news on Five Live, a major focus of the coverage will be new ways of reporting issues which appeal to listeners.

Five Live wants them to set the agenda rather than politicians.

Three key one hour debates will be broadcast simultaneously on both Asian Network and Five Live.

A final debate on the war in Iraq from Blackburn will be simulcast on Five Live, Asian Network and 1Xtra:

Glasgow, 14 April - Adil Ray and Anita Anand on politics and comedy.

Birmingham, 21 April - Sonia Deol and Simon Mayo on politics and music.

Blackburn, 28 April - Nikki Bedi and Peter Allen on the war in Iraq.

Five Live will have two ballot boxes in a new location every day.

Each morning on Five Live Breakfast listeners will be told where the boxes are, they can then vote on the issues they want discussed on Five Live later that day.

The ballot box will help highlight the everyday concerns of listeners, and give a human angle to the policy debate.

Election rantline

Listeners to Five Live, the Asian Network and 1Xtra will be able to register their views on various issues during the campaign.

Key comments will be broadcast across all the three stations.

Coverage throughout the campaign

Victoria Derbyshire will interview the main party leaders on her morning show.

She will also do one outside broadcast a week around the UK during the four week campaign, in front of live audiences.

Five Live aims to double the number of such programmes taken out of London compared to the 2001 election.

Julian Worricker and Rachel Burden will be doing outside broadcasts from across the nation.

Rachel will be based in Bristol and Julian will be in the North East for four weeks.

They will seek out views from places far removed from the Westminster village - to give a voice to those little-heard sections of society and people who may be disillusioned by the political process.

Peter Allen will spend a day with each of the main party leaders.

In addition to the unique insight Peter gives about life on the campaign trail, this will provide another opportunity for Five Live to hear first-hand from Tony Blair, Michael Howard and Charles Kennedy.

Anita Anand takes a lighter-hearted look at the proceedings.

She will be joined by a panel of celebrities, all of whom have expressed support for different political parties.

Election Night

All of Five Live's key presenters will have a role as the nation makes its verdict. Peter Allen and Jane Garvey will be in the studio with Sonia Deol, of the Asian Network, and John Pienaar, Five Live's Chief Political Correspondent.

Anita Anand, Rachel Burden and Mark Pougatch will be on location, giving voters views on how the night is unfolding.

Throughout the night, Nicky Campbell will be at Labour Party Headquarters; Simon Mayo is with the Conservatives; and Julian Worricker will be with the Liberal Democrats.

Interactive Election Game

The King of the Swing takes a light-hearted look at the Election game with a topical online quiz allowing listeners to answer questions and 'win' seats across the country following their own party battlebus.

You can play the game at bbc.co.uk/fivelive.
