the next 20 years

Nearly two thirds (60 per cent) of Asians believe that there are too
many immigrants in Britain, a MORI poll for the 主播大秀 Asian Network
suggests.
听
The poll of Asians of all faiths and cultures offers a fascinating
picture of opinion in the week before the General Election.
听
Three quarters of those polled (75 per cent) believe that the decision
to invade Iraq was wrong, with only 15 per cent agreeing with the decision
and nine per cent of respondents expressing no view.
听
Amongst the sample, 62 per cent described themselves as 'certain to
vote'.
听
Trust in politicians - a key electoral issue - threw up some interesting
results about the major party leaders. 48 per cent of Asians polled
believe that Tony Blair is untrustworthy, and 47 per
cent have the same opinion of Michael Howard; 33 per
cent of Asians polled feel that Charles Kennedy is
untrustworthy.
听
Three quarters of respondents felt that Britain has positive race relations
between people of different ethnic backgrounds.
听
Commenting on the findings, Vijay Sharma, Editor of the Asian Network,
said: "These findings offer a fascinating insight into the views of
Asians in the run-up to the General Election.
听
"We'll be airing many of these concerns in discussions on-air
on the Asian Network."

Interviews were conducted in-home and on-street among British Asian
residents aged 18 and over.

The total sample of 325 breaks down into:

110 interviews with Indian residents
105 interviews with Pakistani residents
110 interviews with Bangladeshi residents
听
Fieldwork was conducted between 8 and 24 April 2005.
听
Data is weighted by ethnicity, age, work status and gender to reflect
the profile of Asians.
听
14 per cent of the interviews were conducted in mother tongue language.
