No further episodes of children's favourite Balamory are to be filmed by the 主播大秀 - but there are almost 50 still to be shown for the first time.

主播大秀 Scotland has confirmed that after more than 250 episodes of the award-winning series - filmed over four years in Tobermory and Glasgow - it will explore new programme ideas for the increasingly competitive pre-school market.

As well as the almost 50 episodes still to air a further 200 are available to broadcast again for new audiences of youngsters.

C主播大秀 Creative Director Simon Parsons said: "Balamory is one of the most popular programmes to come from C主播大秀 Scotland and we are very proud of it.

"Over the last four years we have made 254 episodes - which equates to showing one a day on every weekday for a year - so we now have enough to keep the schedule fresh for a long time to come.

"Series four has only just begun to air and appears to have been as well received as previous series, but it will be the last as we've decided to quit while we're ahead.

"We are now focussed on some exciting new projects which we believe could become as popular as Balamory and we hope to make an announcement soon."

Balamory is screened on the CBeebies channel and on CBeebies on 主播大秀 ONE and TWO.

Notes to Editors

In the last few months, as well as watching the shows on TV, thousands of children have attended live Balamory stage shows throughout the country.

DVDs, videos and books have also proved popular with fans of the programme.

A further three one-off films featuring most of the TV cast come out in the next few months, including a Christmas special, and a new stage show - Strike Up The Band - starts a six week run across the UK in September.

In January 2004 Balamory was voted Best Children's Programme at the Broadcast awards and in November 2004 won a Children's Bafta for Best Pre-school Live Action Show.
