主播大秀 TWO's The Culture Show and the Design Museum today announce the top ten most popular British designs as voted for by the public.

The Great British Design Quest will discover the nation's favourite example of British design since 1900.

In an eclectic list, modern technology goes head to head with great British icons to be named the nation's favourite British design.

The top ten includes the oldest design in the long list, the K2 telephone kiosk from 1926, and the most recent, the Grand Theft Auto series of computer games, designed in 1997.

The top ten is announced on The Culture Show tonight (7.00pm, repeated 11.20pm, 主播大秀 TWO).

The full list and the well-known faces who will be exploring each design's absorbing history on the programme, are, in chronological order:

K2 telephone kiosk - advocated by designer Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen;

Underground map - advocated by Today presenter James Naughtie;

Catseye - advocated by Top Gear presenter James May;

Supermarine Spitfire aircraft - advocated by historian and presenter Dan Snow;

Routemaster bus - advocated by designer Thomas Heatherwick;

Mini - advocated by Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman;

Concorde - advocated by Jonathan Glancey, Architecture & Design Editor at The Guardian;

World Wide Web - advocated by writer Dave Gorman;

Tomb Raider - advocated by singer Skin, formerly of Skunk Anansie;

Grand Theft Auto - advocated by Johnny Minkley, Editor of MCV Magazine.

A long list of 25 was announced on Thursday 26 January and included the mini skirt, The Beatles' album cover Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and the E-Type Jaguar, which narrowly missed the top ten.

For the last three weeks, the public have been voting for their choice at bbc.co.uk/designquest.

Public votes will determine the top three, unveiled on the programme on Thursday 2 March.

The winner will be announced on The Culture Show on Thursday 16 March.

Many of the nominated design projects can also be seen at the Designing Modern Britain exhibition at the Design Museum.

The public can learn more about the projects on the Design Museum website - www.designmuseum.org.

The Great British Design Quest is organised in collaboration by the Design Museum and 主播大秀 TWO's The Culture Show.

Votes can be cast at bbc.co.uk/designquest.
