Strictly Dance Fever 2006 winning couple crowned
Darrien Wright (21, from Glasgow) and Hollie Robertson (21, from Middlesex) set
the dance floor well and truly alight as they were crowned Strictly
Dance Fever Champions 2006 in a glittering grand finale on 主播大秀 ONE.
听
The dancing duo waltzed away with a cheque for 拢50,000 and a contract to dance
in the West End production of Footloose.
听
Darrien and Hollie wowed the judges and viewing public in a dazzling display of
dance, performing their favourite dance, The Milonga, and their own freestyle
number.
听
The couple pipped the other two couples to the top of the leader board
with a total of 80 points. The judges awarded them the highest possible scores
for both dances.
听
Last year's Strictly Dance Fever winners, Joseph Hall and Sadie Flower, returned
to the show to present the trophy to the new champions.
听
Darrien said: "It's amazing, I'm shaking - it's not sunk in. It was the longest
20 seconds of my life waiting for our names to be announced."
听
Hollie added: "It's surreal, I don't know what's going on but I know I'm so
happy. I want to put the prize money towards a dance studio so I can teach."
听
Host Graham Norton said of the winners: "I'm just thrilled it has happened for
Darrien and Hollie, they've worked so hard and I think out of the final three
couples they wanted it the most and in the end they got it."
听
Judge Wayne Sleep added: "Darrien and Hollie deserved it, they've worked so hard for
this. From day one they've wanted it, they were the most hungry couple and they
really deserve it."
听
Three couples out of the original ten talented couples who made it through the
auditions to live and train in the Dance Mansion took part in the spectacular
live dance off tonight (Saturday 3 June).
听
Darren Bailey (25, from Newport) and Lana Williams (20, from Brentwood) were
runners-up in second place and Ben Harrold (19, from Milton Keynes) and Stephanie
Croxson (21, from Kent) were in third place.
听

1,295 litres of water have been consumed by the dancers over the last 10 weeks

The couples have completed 2,080 hours training in the Dance Mansion which
roughly equates to dancing 10,400 miles (the distance from London to Melbourne!)

4.5 million sequins have been added to 15,000 metres of fabric in the making of
dancers costumes
听
More than one million viewers have phoned in to vote for their favourite couple
throughout the competition
听
More than 80,000 people applied to take part in Strictly Dance Fever (the competition
was open to non-professional dancers over the age of 18).
