The nation votes for Chedham's Yard - Restoration Village results from third programme revealed

Rhys Jones will tonight reveal that the nation has chosen Chedham's
Yard, in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, to be the third building
to go through to the Final of this year's 主播大秀 TWO series Restoration
Village.
听
Last Friday (11 August), in the third episode of the new series, Griff called upon viewers to make their mark on history and choose between: All Saints Church, Beckingham, Lincolnshire; Pennoyer's School, Pulham St Mary, Norfolk; and Chedham's Yard, Wellesbourne.
听
Chedham's Yard dates from the early 19th century and
the site includes a blacksmith's forge, a wheelwright's workshop
and a drying shed.
听
Of less architectural distinction than some
of the featured buildings, its interest lies in its unique time
capsule state of preservation. 听
When Bill Chedham, the seventh generation to own the site, downed tools in the Seventies, he left behind all the accumulated contents which have been catalogued by Oxford Archaeology.
听
Local people are eager to see the near-derelict buildings restored and the site returned to use, preferably as an active heritage centre, with a working forge, artefact exhibits, interactive displays and educational areas.
听
Elaine Hughes, the Project Officer for the Chedham's Yard project, says: "We're thrilled to bits and it really justifies all the hard work we've put in. We're looking forward to the final in September and we'd like to thank everyone for their support."

This year the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has set aside 拢1.9m for The Restoration Fund to help restore the winners.
听
Anne Jenkins, HLF Manager for the West Midlands, says: "Chedham's
Yard is a heritage gem at the very heart of the community and we're
delighted it has gone through to the final.
听
"This new series once again gives the public the chance to have a say on which building receives National Lottery funding through the HLF. I'd like to encourage people from all over West Midlands to really get behind their finalist and guarantee them a future by pledging their votes."
听
Tonight's result means that Chedham's Yard will now become one of eight buildings to be featured in the live grand final to be held at Weald & Downland Open Air Museum in September.
听
Here a nationwide vote will decide which building should
be given a new lease of life with money raised throughout the course
of the series.
听
Three more of the nation's threatened architectural treasures, in Scotland, are tonight (18 August) vying for the public vote: Dennis Head Old Beacon, North Ronaldsay, Orkney; Greenlaw Town Hall, Greenlaw, Berwickshire; and Cromarty East Church, Cromarty, Ross-shire.
听

Next Friday's episode of Restoration Village (25 August) will reveal which of
these will become the fourth building to go through to the final.

Voting lines are open from 12.01am every Friday for
each programme until midnight on Tuesday.

If the building you voted for hasn't won its regional
heat, don't give up hope - it still has a chance. The runner-up with
the most votes across the series will become our eighth finalist
and go through to compete for the Restoration prize fund.

Each call will cost 拢1 with 77p going directly
to the Restoration Fund, a registered charity. Calls from a BT landline
will cost 拢1. Calls from mobiles and other networks may vary.
听
Monies raised from the voting lines will be used for
the building that receives the most votes in the final provided it
fulfils the conditions set out by the Trustees of The Restoration
Fund.
听
Over and above the money from the phonelines, the Heritage
Lottery Fund has set aside 拢1.9m for Restoration
Village. HLF will make a Project Planning Grant (PPG) available to
all those projects shortlisted for the final that need further help
with their planning, up to a value of 拢50,000 each.
听
The rest
will go to the winning building (subject to approval by the Restoration
Fund) along with monies raised by viewer votes.
