主播大秀 encourages listeners to have their say on US elections

World Have Your Say, the interactive radio and online programme broadcast by 主播大秀 World Service, will bring five days of live programming on the United States mid-term elections starting Monday 6 November at 1.00pm EST (6.00pm GMT).

Presenters Ros Atkins and Rabiya Parekh will broadcast live from Washington DC, Cleveland and Detroit to discuss key issues with local residents and politicians, and a global audience.

Ros Atkins says: "There is no other country whose domestic politics are of such keen interest to the rest of the globe as the US.

"World Have Your Say is going to provide some fascinating insights into what matters to Americans at this important time.

"In March we took the World Have Your Say team on a five-day tour across Atlanta, Detroit, New Orleans, New York and Washington, meeting people face to face and giving them an opportunity to share with us the major issues affecting their lives.

"It was a huge success and we felt the mid-term election is another opportunity to get closer to our listeners and hear what they have to say."

Monday 6 November - World Have Your Say will broadcast live from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington DC. Representatives of the Republican and Democrat parties will take questions from young voters.

Tuesday 7 November is election day and the programme broadcasts live from WCPN studios in Cleveland, Ohio. As Americans place their votes, the team will ask people around the world who they want to win, why they care about American politics and what difference they think it will make to them. A live audience of WCPN listeners will respond to listener questions.

Wednesday 8 November - World Have Your Say will broadcast live from WCPN in Cleveland. A live studio audience and callers across the USA will consider the mid-term results and their implications for Ohio, America and the rest of the world.

Thursday 9 November - the team will be in Detroit broadcasting live from WDET. A studio audience will take part in a conversation giving Detroit's perspective on the mid-term results as well as discuss the day's news.

Friday 10 November - still in Detroit, World Have Your Say will broadcast live from WDET, where the topic for discussion will be determined by the live studio audience and listeners around the world.
