主播大秀 Two series to give UK audiences a taste of tribal life

主播大秀 Two has commissioned a new documentary series in which ordinary women will be given the opportunity to travel to the remotest parts of the world and experience life as a tribal woman.
听
In Woman of the Tribe (working title), six British women will give up their everyday lives and spend a month living with some of the world's remotest tribes - in Greenland, Papua New Guinea, Africa, and Northern Mongolia.
听
The women will act as a 'second wife' by shadowing the tribesman's real wife in her daily duties.
听
They will need to work, eat, and sleep exactly as the other tribal women in order to experience what it is really like to live in the community.
听
To get a real sense of her new life, all the women will be expected to spend a month living with their new families and immersing themselves fully into their new culture.
听
At the Sheffield International Documentary Festival last week, Jana Bennett, Director, 主播大秀 Vision, said: "The beauty of this series is that it is a modern format that plays to the traditional strengths of 主播大秀 documentaries, with the aim of bringing a challenging and unfamiliar world to a wider audience."

From the channel that brought viewers Bruce Parry's successful Tribe series, the six-part series - to be broadcast in 2007 - is commissioned by Richard Klein, 主播大秀 Commissioning Editor, Documentaries, from independent production company Diverse West in association with Goldhawk Media.

Richard Klein said:
"Woman of the Tribe will give UK audiences and the six Western women a real insight into how tribal women really live, the everyday issues they deal with, their hopes and fears, and their views on life.
听
"Viewers will see the women of the tribe speak with passion, emotion and humour about their lives, in a way that has not been explored before."

In turn, the series will reflect on the tribe's perception of Western culture and garner their views on their visitors: members of the tribe will be interviewed each week to assess how the British women are doing, how well each woman is integrating into the community, how useful she is, and the strength of the individual relationships she forges.
听
Crossing continents to some of the remotest places in the world - from jungle to desert - viewers will be able to follow the progress of the tribal wife to see if she is accepted by the community, and is able to rise to the challenges thrown at her by her new life - or whether she simply misses her Western lifestyle too much to truly benefit from the experience.
听
