2007 Rugby World Cup
on 5 Live

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio 5 Live and Ö÷²¥´óÐã Radio 5 Live Sports Extra have exclusive radio commentary rights for the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

Ìý

John Inverdale hosts the coverage with award-winning commentator Ian Robertson, and a stellar line-up of summarisers including Matt Dawson, Gavin Hastings, Robert Jones, Hugo MacNeill, Justin Marshall, Zinzan Brooke, Robbie Fleck and Matt Burke.

Ìý

5 Live will begin by taking listeners inside the minds of key England players as they secured World Cup glory against Australia in 2003.

Ìý

Is That All You've Got? recreates the dramatic last two minutes of the final. The programme is named after the headline used by an Australian newspaper following England's lacklustre performance in their first 2003 Rugby World Cup match.

Ìý

England then went on to reach and win the final against Australia – one of the most dramatic matches of all time.

Ìý

The special programme airs on Tuesday 4 September as part of 5 Live Sport from 7pm.

Ìý

Captain Martin Johnson, Matt Dawson, Lewis Moody, Steve Thompson, Mike Catt and Jonny Wilkinson talk through their part in one of the greatest moments in modern English sporting history, with 5 Live commentator Ian Robertson's award-winning audio providing the narrative as the winning move unfolds.

Ìý

The evening's 5 Live Sport also includes an interview with World Cup winning coach Sir Clive Woodward, plus top guests discussing what it takes to win a World Cup and how the teams may fare this year.

Ìý

The network's extensive World Cup coverage starts on Friday 7 September with France v Argentina.

Ìý

It includes full commentary of all games involving the home nations (England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland) live on 5 Live or 5 Live Sports Extra, plus South Africa v Samoa (9 September) and Australia v Fiji (23 September).

Ìý

The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will all be broadcast live on 5 Live, with the third place play-off live on Sports Extra.

Ìý

Throughout the tournament there will be news and reports of every game on 5 Live plus top guests and discussion, with many opportunities for listeners to get involved.

Ìý

On commentary with Ian Robertson are Alistair Hignell, Nick Mullins, Andrew Cotter, Jim Neilly, Alistair Eykyn and Iain Carter.

Ìý

In addition there will be strong online support in the form of a virtual clubhouse at bbc.co.uk/5live with "drop-click" (an online game), videos, photos and news from the fans.

Ìý

A 5 Live touring clubhouse will capture the atmosphere across the UK and Ireland with special guests including Brian Moore.

Ìý

606 – 5 Live's famous sports phone-in – will be up and running at regular intervals during the tournament.

Ìý

John Inverdale, Matt Dawson and special guests will be on hand to take listeners' calls, texts and emails.

Ìý

A regular podcast will be available at bbc.co.uk/5live containing all the news and highlights from the tournament, plus interviews with top names and pundits' predictions.
