CSV Action Network to host The Wellbeing Event at Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees Open Centre

Fancy enjoying an Indian head massage or trying out tai chi? Then come along to The Wellbeing Event at Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees Open Centre on Thursday 25 February from 10.00am to 2.00pm.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees, working in partnership with Middlesbrough and Stockton MIND, invite you to enjoy a day of activities designed to improve wellbeing across the region.

Favourite Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees mid-morning presenting duo Neil Green and Diane Youdale will be taking part throughout the day.

A Middlesbrough girl born and bred, Diane is known for her passion for the outdoors and takes regular walks up to the Wainstones and Clay Bank.

The Wellbeing Event is free and is a wonderful chance to pick up tips on getting healthy from a wide range of experts.

In the morning, professionals from Teesside University Wellbeing Centre will give holistic massage therapy, Indian head massage and a variety of alternative therapies throughout the day.

A local chemist will provide interactive BMI tests and hand massages, along with a guide to vitamins and methods for healthy weight loss.

Local fitness experts will be on hand to let you know what keep fit programmes and activities are happening near you, with an opportunity to try out new hydraulic resistance equipment.

In the afternoon, children are invited to join pupils from Newport Primary School in a Storytelling session about how to deal with worries. Marjorie Wilson, an administrator at St Luke's Hospital, will read a Big Bag Of Worries story that will teach the children simple coping techniques and ideas to relieve stress. Rounding off the day's activities will be an exhilarating group balloon release, to let all anxieties be carried away on the breeze.

And the fun does not stop there, with fantastic giveaways on offer including pedometers, Ö÷²¥´óÐã comedy DVDs, product samples and free fruit.

Ben Thomas, Assistant Editor at Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees, said: "We're happy to be hosting The Wellbeing Event at Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees. It’s a way for local people to visit us, try out different activities and pick up information about local health services."

Laura Hartland, Middlesbrough and Stockton MIND, said: "We know that it's important to take a holistic approach to wellbeing and mental health. A healthy diet and regular exercise are known to increase energy levels and make you feel better by stimulating the production of endorphins, the feel-good chemical.

"It is as important as ever that people take time to relax and maintain their overall health in order to cope well during these difficult economic times on Teesside. The Wellbeing Event at Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees should provide the people of Teesside with a free and fun way to improve their health and happiness."

South Tees Health Improvement Specialist Claire Eyre said: "It is vital everyone looks after their health and wellbeing so we would urge everyone to come along to this event and find out what help is available to them across the NHS Tees area, such as our Community Weight Management Service."

Don't miss this opportunity to relax while you find out about NHS local health services, weight-loss programmes and interesting alternative therapies to share with your friends and family.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Tees Open Centre is located next to the bus station on Newport Road.
