Ö÷²¥´óÐã Proms In The Park will once again be staged in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle on Saturday 11 September, it was announced today, as Northern Ireland joins the UK-wide celebrations of the world famous Last Night Of The Proms.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Proms In The Park in Northern Ireland is now in its ninth year. It provides outdoor music-making on a grand scale, bringing together local and international artists in Ö÷²¥´óÐã Northern Ireland's biggest outside broadcast event of the year. The concert at Hillsborough Castle will feature the Ulster Orchestra and guest artists in a programme of popular classics.

Ö÷²¥´óÐã Proms In the Park events will also take place in other locations across the United Kingdom as part of festivities to mark the conclusion of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã's annual Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall, the world-famous Last Night Of The Proms.

Plans for this year's event are still being finalised, but it will include all of the traditional elements – big screens, great music and a party atmosphere.

The concert will be introduced and presented by Noel Thompson and Claire McCollum and broadcast to a wider audience on Ö÷²¥´óÐã television, radio and online.

Permission to use the grounds of Hillsborough Castle has been given by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.

Peter Johnston, Director Ö÷²¥´óÐã Northern Ireland, said: "Proms In The Park is one of the most prestigious large-scale events the Ö÷²¥´óÐã undertakes each year. We are looking forward to bringing it back again to the grounds of Hillsborough Castle. Promenaders can be assured of a very special evening of musical entertainment from a mix of talented local and international artists – all set against the stunning backdrop of the castle."

Lisburn City Council has supported the event.

Councillor Jenny Palmer, Chairman of Lisburn City Council's Economic Development Committee, added: "We are delighted the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Proms In The Park event is coming once again to Lisburn City's picturesque village of Hillsborough.

"Last year's Ö÷²¥´óÐã Proms In The Park saw a wonderful evening for the thousands of people who came to the event in the City of Lisburn, with a really uplifting atmosphere in the spectacular grounds of Hillsborough Castle, where the 2010 event will be held. We are pleased Lisburn will once again represent Northern Ireland in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã acclaimed Last Night Of The Proms, and look forward to giving all Promenaders the warmest of welcomes."
